Former Godwin baseball player enters the major leagues

Godwin alumni Eric Fornataro (Class of 2006) has become the first former Godwin baseball player to make it into Major League Baseball (MLB).

Fornataro is playing as a relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals after being called up from a triple-A team in Memphis.

“Carmina Burana” brings Godwin music department together

On Thursday, April 10 within Godwin’s packed auditorium, audience members were given a treat that only comes around every 4 years. Weeks of hard work and practice had led Godwin’s entire music department up to this date to play their rendition of “Carmina Burana.”

Godwin track meet April 2

The Godwin Eagles hosted a track meet against several schools including Deep Run, Freeman, Hermitage, J.R. Tucker, John Marshall, Maggie Walker, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson on April 2.

The Eagles’ boys team finished in second place overall. “It was a strong start to our season,” said head coach Jon Lauder.


Godwin students participate in poetry day

On Thursday, April 11, Godwin held its annual Poetry Day celebration, with more than one hundred students and teachers participating.

Poetry Day is an event run by the school’s literary magazine, Reverse Images. Students recite poems before a crowd of their peers throughout the day.
