On April 4, Godwin baseball fell to Freeman 3-1 in a low scoring affair behind the pitching of Daniel Lynch and Miller Trevvett.
The Godwin Eagles hosted a track meet against several schools including Deep Run, Freeman, Hermitage, J.R. Tucker, John Marshall, Maggie Walker, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson on April 2.
The Eagles’ boys team finished in second place overall. “It was a strong start to our season,” said head coach Jon Lauder.
On Thursday, April 11, Godwin held its annual Poetry Day celebration, with more than one hundred students and teachers participating.
Poetry Day is an event run by the school’s literary magazine, Reverse Images. Students recite poems before a crowd of their peers throughout the day.
The Godwin girls’ tennis team made short work of Freeman this past Tuesday, April 2. The final score was 7-2.
On March 28, a rivalry driven crowd gathered at Axselle stadium to watch the Godwin boy’s lacrosse team take on county foes Deep Run.
It was a close game, with both teams trading goals often.
On March 20 and 22, Godwin’s mixed ensemble Madrigals, women’s ensemble Acapella, and show choir Debut competed against other high school groups invited to an annual competition held at Hanover High school.
For the first time since 2010, the Godwin girls’ soccer team defeated the Deep Run Wildcats in a 2-1 match on March 20.
On February 27, Godwin sent several members of the girls track team to compete in the state meet. They returned with several individual medals.
Godwin’s robotic team participated in the FRC Regionals tournament this past weekend at the Siegel Center.
Model United Nations is a cooperative effort of intelligent youth to solve modern day global problems through debate, just as the real United Nations does. This club was founded by a Godwin junior Sneha Reddy.
