Richmond STEM Fair Winners
The month of February is nationally known as Black History Month in which we remember the important events and figures of the past who belonged to the African American community. Here at Godwin many teachers are taking the month into their own hands by doing activities in their class that they feel demonstrate an appreciation of the African American culture.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18 Future Educators of America (FEA) went on a field trip to Lakeside Elementary School to distribute books and read to elementary school kids.
Students compete in Poetry Out Loud
On Dec. 12, Governor Bob McDonnell visited Godwin High School to speak about school safety. There has been a big focus on school safety ever since the Sandy Hook Shooting occurred in Connecticut a year ago.
On Friday, Nov. 22 students and faculty participated in a blood drive held by the Medical Club for the American Red Cross. The Medical Club volunteered with the event and helped out the workers from the American Red Cross.
On Friday November 15, Godwin will lose its Technology Support Technician, Justin Cole.
Senior art students have started off the year with a new project to benefit Godwin. The class has painted all of the benches in the senior courtyard.
On Oct. 25, former Godwin student and current Special Agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Michael Tooley returned to Godwin to speak to geometry teacher Rob White’s classes.
