In the recent film Spider-Man: No Way Home, we get to see all three live action Spidermen. This has sparked a debate on who is the best one — Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or Tom Holland?

Each actor brings different personal aspects to their character. In my opinion, I think they all do an amazing job sharing the story of Peter Parker and his alter ego of Spider-Man.

Maguire was in the first series of movies, Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3. Maguire is the only Spider-Man with naturally occurring web production which is a great advantage to his character.

Maguire does not bring the charismatic sense of humor that his Spider-Man counterparts do, however. Garfield has a certain swagger to his character, and Holland has an awkward charm that makes him all the more relatable.

I enjoy Maguire’s villains the most because they have the most well developed stories. Willem Dafoe’s imitation of the Green Goblin is my favorite as he is menacing and one of the strongest foes that Spider-Man faces.

I enjoyed “emo” Peter Parker portrayed by Maguire because it was a great way of introducing the venom symbiote, an alien-like creature in Spider-Man 3.

Garfield is in the second installments called The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2. He only got 2 movies before his Spider-Man was scrapped.

Garfield by far has the best “Spidey suit.” It has the sleekest design and is closest to the original comic book’s representation.

Garfield also has the best comedic timing of the Spidermen and  does not carry the weight of being a nerd like the true Spider-Man. Because of this, I think he is the second best Spider-Man

Garfield’s personality demonstrates more of an outcast skater boy in his movies, but his persona is too cool to give the original feeling to his character. There is also a different take with him being more of a vigilante, after getting bit by the spider in this movie.

Holland is the most recent Spider-Man who has teamed up with the Avengers on multiple occasions. He is also in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Holland has been in the most movies if we were to count the Avengers side of the franchise, but it seems as though he just rides on the coattails of Tony Stark. Stark is an amazingly influential part in culminating Holland’s version of Spider-Man, but it seems like a filler for us to see less of Peter’s story like in the other films.

In fact, there is no origin story at all for Holland. This was probably done to save time because most people who are fans of Spider-Man already know it by heart. There is not even a mention of Oscorp, an experimental research lab, which probably doesn’t even exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Holland does have arguably the best look for Peter because he is closest in age and physical stature, and is the only one that could actually pass for a highschooler.

My favorite Spider-Man and who I think portrays the best overall character are different. Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spider-Man, but Tobey Maguire is the best portrayal. Maguire is the most well rounded version of Spiderman from the nerdiness of Peter to the heroic web slinger that is Spider-Man.

When in doubt go with the classics.
