Cope’s baby boy wins race

On saturday Feb. 22 a traditional event occured at the University of Richmond basketball game. Approximately 20 babies were lined up on the court at half-time to participate in a baby race.

Science teacher Samantha Cope’s baby boy, Walker Cope, was among the babies on the court. The goal of the race is for a baby to crawl across the court from one parent to the next. The first baby to reach the other parent wins the race and a cash prize.

This year Walker Cope was the fastest crawling baby and won the race. “We won $529 to go into a Virginia 529 plan for Walker’s future college education,” said Cope.
