We Can’t Read and It’s Our Teachers’ Fault

We may not think about it, but we read all the time. From text messages on our phones to signs on the street.
When we read texts, we think about them for a moment and then form thoughts based on what we read. That skill is called reading comprehension.
Reading comprehension is the ability to process and understand what we just read. With good reading comprehension skills, we learn new words using context clues and understand the author’s intent in writing their article.
However, as time passes and a new generation of kids start school, teachers are beginning to realize how much more difficult it will be to teach reading skills.
Developing good reading comprehension skills takes many years to hone, especially if someone has mental health problems like ADHD or dyslexia, which is not their fault.
In the worst-case scenario, some teachers may ignore their students’ problems and fail to explain the topic in depth.
Having certain reading difficulties will leave students uninterested and unable to develop these skills completely. Part of the reason for the lack of motivation is the fault of their teacher, who is responsible for more than simply teaching them.
Teachers need to be mindful about their students’ well-being because poor health will hinder their ability to study.
Besides having disabilities, many kids have poor reading comprehension due to a lack of writing skills.
One of the best ways to improve reading skills is to write. Developing good writing skills can help improve spelling and grammar. When reading, students may take inspiration from what they read and use it to write using the same format.
A main problem of having kids read is making sure they are engaged in the story. The main reason why most kids are not engrossed in their reading is because the stories they’re assigned are boring.
Instead, teachers should assign reading based on their interests. By assigning readings that are similar to their interests, students will comprehend the material better and answer the questions more proficiently.

It is a well-known fact that all kids learn differently.
Teachers should take advantage and utilize that. For those who are auditory learners, having a teacher read it out loud or using audiobooks will make them understand it better.
Students are going to struggle no matter the subject whether that be math, science or even reading.
The reason why kids don’t have any reading comprehension skills is all their teachers’ negligence. It’s their job to teach but some can’t even do it.
