Government Reopens For Three Weeks After Longest Shutdown in History
After 35 days, both the House of Representatives and the Senate have approved a bill and President Trump
has agreed he will also sign the bill to end what has been the longest government shutdown in United States
history.
The bill only ends the shutdown for three weeks, as it will expire on Feb.15, allowing lawmakers to further address President Trump’s request for $5.7 billion, which he has said is needed for building a wall along the border with Mexico.
There is no real agreement or process for what happens if in three weeks the situation has not been finalized, with both Democrats and Republicans coming to an agreement.
