Signing Ceremony 2017-18

On Wednesday, February 7th, twelve of Godwin’s finest student athletes officially signed to play sports at their respective colleges.

Diana Domenech, Maddie Hadd, Sarah Malloy, Rebecca Rogers, Molly Wheeler, and Johanna Lupica were the female athletes who signed.

Daniel Ahrens, Scott McDonough, Cory O’Shea, John Bryson, Sean Bowers, and Allen Massie were the male athletes who signed.

“I was lucky enough for Longwood to provide me the opportunity to play soccer at a Division I school. I loved the players, atmosphere, and coaches at Longwood. Holden Fisher inspired me to play at Longwood and my Godwin coaches challenged me to achieve my goals,” said Longwood soccer commit Daniel Ahrens.

Ahrens was a member of last seasons all-metro team, in addition to being apart of the State runner up team.

“Without Coach Lauder and Coach Wood I would have never signed with my dream school. Their very motivating and honest talks inspire me,” said Richmond cross country commit Johanna Lupica.

Lupica qualified for the State cross country meet this season.

“I decided to go to William and Mary because my dad went there. The school has always had a place close to my heart. The teachers at godwin helped me strive in the classroom, while the swim coaches helped me strive out of the classroom,” said William & Mary swim commit Rebecca Rogers.

Rogers scored in all of her events in the 2017 state meet and raced at the NCSA (National Club Swimming Association) finals.

“When I toured Sewannee, there was something a bit different about it, but I knew it was special. Without my teammates and coaches constant inspiration to play the game I love, I wouldn’t be here,” said Sewannee field hockey commit Molly Wheeler.

Wheeler was apart of this seasons all-metro team and first team all-region team.

“Mr. Lauder was an inspiration to me and he played a major part in my high school career. The education and extra-curricular activities at Hampden Sydney are major reasons why i decided to go there,” said Hampden-Sydney lacrosse commit John Bryson.

Bryson was first team all-conference and all-region last season.

These athletes have dedicated their high school careers to Godwin and without their hard work, Godwin athletics would not be the stalwart that it is today.
