The battle between schools took place once again in the Henrico Cupcake Wars Competition on February 17. Bringing back the unexpected first place medal are Godwin’s own Queens of Cupcakes: Alycia Patterson, Olivia Marshall, Nora Marshall, Madeline Carlton and Alex Smith.
To prepare for the competition, the girls decided to split up the jobs: Some would make toppings, others would make the cupcakes, and another would design the presentation itself. Each girl helped with every aspect of the presentation which, according to Nora Marshall, is why their presentation came together so smoothly.
The competition was built around the theme of “Family Game Night”, and Godwin’s team chose the board game “Clue” as their basis for their presentation. Having a scene presentation of the cupcakes and uniqueness of the cupcakes were part of the criterion for the competition. The Godwin girls took this to another level by wearing the costume of each of the characters in the “Clue” board game. Their winning cupcake flavor was “Mexican Hot Chocolate”, and all the cupcakes were topped with fondant decorations such as magnifying glasses and question marks.
Patterson, Marshall, Marshall, Carlton, and Smith all won a trophy and each received a $15 gift card to Chik-Fil-A as their prize.
