Do’s and don’ts of gift giving

  • Do’s
  • Something personalized and meaningful- pertaining a fun Godwin memory at a pep rally, football game, etc
  • Spend time on the wrapping- make it look nice
  • Shop early- the Godwin area can get crowded this time of year and if you’re buying online do so as well to accommodate for the shipping
  • Consider getting your teachers small gifts to show your appreciation (even just a thank you letter- they will be grateful )
  • Give your friends the gift of kindness- even a text can go far
  • Don’ts
  • Regift presents you’ve already been given (especially back to the person who gave it to you in the first place)
  • Go over budget on a Secret Santa exchange
  • Discuss any presents beforehand, especially if a secret gift exchange is going on
  • Anything Deep Run colored or merch- keep that on the other side of Broad
  • Tacky jewelry- the heart necklaces
  • Anything impersonal or meaningless to a close friend- socks, cash, gift card
  • This one’s for our teachers: don’t give us homework during the winter break!
